The below are some sample audio books we use to enhance the learning actitivies of our students:

The Art of WarSun Tzu's The Art of War offers a timeless set of principles that can be applied to any of life’s challenges. Though written in the context of warfare, its techniques for meeting challenges while minimizing conflict are invaluable in every area of today's increasingly competitive world.

Principles of EconomicsBritish economist Alfred Marshall (1842-1924) was one of the founders of the 'neoclassical' school in which economists studied both wealth and human behaviour to understand why we make the choices we do. This abridged edition offers a general introduction to the study of economics, dealing mainly with normal conditions of industry, employment, and wages.

Peloponnesian WarThe State of Greece from the earliest Times to the Commencement of the Peloponnesian War Thucydides, an Athenian, wrote the history of the war between the Peloponnesians and the Athenians, beginning at the moment that it broke out, and believing that it would be a great war and more worthy of relation than any that had preceded it.

Voyage of the Beagle by Charles DarwinThe Voyage of the Beagle is a title commonly given to the book written by Charles Darwin published in 1839 as his Journal and Remarks, which brought him considerable fame and respect. The title refers to the second survey expedition of the ship HMS Beagle, which set sail from Plymouth Sound on 27 December 1831 under the command of captain Robert FitzRoy.

Siddhartha by Herman HesseThe Buddhist faith and way of life is a direct reflection of the doctrines and teachings of a single man. Siddhartha Gautama became better known as Guatama Buddha following his own personal bodhi, or enlightenment. He used this newly acquired knowledge to instruct others in his faith on the means to reach both bodhi and Nirvana, which is the end of all suffering.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich NietzscheThus Spoke Zarathustra offers the philosophy of its author through the voice of Zarathustra (based on the Persian prophet Zoroaster) who, after years of meditation, has come down from a mountain to offer his wisdom to the world. It is this work in which Nietzsche made his famous (and much misconstrued) statement that "God is dead" and in which he presented some of the most influential and well-known (and likewise misunderstood) ideas of his philosophy, including those of the Ubermensch ("overman" or "superman") and the "will to power."

The Koran translated by Mohammed Marmaduke PickthallThe Koran (Qur’an) is regarded by Muslims as the word of God (Allah) as revealed to the prophet Muhammad. It is divided into 114 chapters (surahs), arranged roughly by length. This version, The Meaning of the Glorious Koran, is a widely used English translation of the Koran by a Muslim Englishman. Many Muslims, however, including Pickthall, believe that true translations of the Koran from the original Arabic are impossible, and see translations into other languages only as useful interpretations.

War and Peace by Leo TolstoyWar and Peace centers broadly on Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in 1812. Tolstoy vividly follows characters from diverse backgrounds—peasants and nobility, civilians and soldiers—as they struggle with the problems unique to their era, their history, and their culture. And as the novel progresses, these characters transcend their specificity, becoming some of the most moving—and human—figures in world literature.

The Book of Job by Young's Literal TranslationYoung’s Literal Translation is a translation of the Bible into English, published in 1862. The translation was made by Robert Young, compiler of Young’s Analytical Concordance to the Bible and Concise Critical Comments on the New Testament. Young produced a “Revised Edition” of the translation in 1887. After he died on October 14, 1888, the publisher in 1898 released a new Revised Edition.

Summa Theologica by St. Thomas AquinasThe Summa Theologica (or the Summa Theologiae or simply the Summa, written between 1265 and 1274) is the most famous work of Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225–1274) although it was never finished. It was intended as a manual for beginners as a compilation of all of the main theological teachings of that time. It summarizes the reasonings for almost all points of Christian theology in the West, which, before the Protestant Reformation, subsisted solely in the Roman Catholic Church.

The Mind and the Brain by Alfred Binet“This book is a prolonged effort to establish a distinction between what is called mind and what is called matter. Nothing is more simple than to realise this distinction when you do not go deeply into it; nothing is more difficult when you analyse it a little. At first sight, it seems impossible to confuse things so far apart as a thought and a block of stone; but on reflection this great contrast vanishes, and other differences have to be sought which are less apparent and of which one has not hitherto dreamed.”

At the Earth's Core by Edgar Rice BurroughsThis is the first book in the Pellucidar series. Pellucidar is a fictional Hollow Earth milieu invented by Edgar Rice Burroughs for a series of action adventure stories. The stories initially involve the adventures of mining heir David Innes and his inventor friend Abner Perry after they use an “iron mole” to burrow 500 miles into the earth’s crust.

Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes SaavedraDon Quixote is an early novel written by Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Cervantes created a fictional origin for the story in the character of the Morisco historian, Cide Hamete Benengeli, whom he claims to have hired to translate the story from an Arabic manuscript he found in Toledo’s bedraggled old Jewish quarter.

A History of Greece, Vol II by John Bagnell BuryJ.B. Bury wrote History of Greece before World War I, (this edition 1913) in a lucid, easily understood style that entertains as it educates. The book covers artistic and literary development, as well as politics and war, and its field of view includes western Asia Minor, the Agean archipelago, and “Greater Greece”.

Dream Psychology by Sigmund FreudIn Dream Psychology, Freud distils and crystallizes the essence of his two key works in this field: The Interpretation of Dreams (1900), and On Dreams (1901). Defining some of the key concepts which would be later incorporated into the first manifestos of Surrealism, Dream Psychology is an indispensible introduction to Freud, his fundamental principles of oneiric psychoanalysis, and his influence on subsequent generations of thinkers, writers and artists alike.

Etiquette in Society, in Business, in Politics and at Home by Emily PostEmily Post offers a way of living: “Manners are made up of trivialities of deportment which can be easily learned if one does not happen to know them; manner is personality—the outward manifestation of one’s innate character and attitude toward life.” Post gives us thousands of tips on correspondence, wedding planning, party giving and conduct in every public or private setting.

Edison, His Life and Inventions by F. L. Dyer et alA detailed biography of Thomas Alva Edison. In the words of the authors, “It is designed in these pages to bring the reader face to face with Edison; to glance at an interesting childhood and a youthful period marked by a capacity for doing things, and by an insatiable thirst for knowledge; then to accompany him into the great creative stretch of forty years, during which he has done so much".

Relativity: The Special and General Theory by Albert EinsteinIn the words of Einstein: “The present book is intended, as far as possible, to give an exact insight into the theory of Relativity to those readers who, from a general scientific and philosophical point of view, are interested in the theory, but who are not conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics.”

History of the Christian Church by Eusebius of Caesarea The Church History of Eusebius of Caesarea was a fourth-century pioneer work giving a chronological account of the development of Christianity from the first century. It was written in Greek, and survives also in Latin, Syriac and Armenian manuscripts. Eusebius made use of many ecclesiastical monuments and documents, acts of the martyrs, letters, extracts from earlier Christian writings, lists of bishops, and similar sources, often quoting the originals at great length so that his work contains materials not elsewhere preserved.
